Today I went outside to do some weeding and plant some flowers. I am not a gardener. I always wish I was someone who loved to get out there and get in the dirt and plant. In actuality I go out there so our yard is not the only one on the block with no flowers and overrun by weeds! My 4 year old daughter wanted to “help” me plant the flowers. Although I love having her around me, when she helps me with a job it usually doubles the time it takes to get it done. As we were digging in the dirt, she found a worm. You would of thought it was a soft cuddly puppy the way she was oohing and ahhing over it. She named the worm Sherman and held it in her hand talking to it while I continued planting. As I went about my task I could not help but smile and be amazed at the simple things that can bring such wonder to children. I have to say I truly enjoyed my gardening after all!
