A few winter’s ago we had a heavy snowstorm. When I arrived home from work the city snowplow has been by and left a large pile right at the front of my driveway. I wasn’t paying attention, just happy to be home, then I drove right into the middle of the slop and became thoroughly stuck!
I revved back and forth and realized I wasn’t going anywhere. I went and got my shovel and worked at freeing my car as I watched two different neighbors arrive home, and I know they saw me, but they went in their homes ignoring my plight.
At one point in my frustration I looked up at heaven and said, “Dear God, I really, really, really need your help. I’m tired, I’m hungry, I’m frustrated, and I’m stuck, and I can’t leave my car here for the night. Please God I need your help to get out of this mess.”
Not more than 2 minutes later a truck pulled up with a young man and he asked me if I needed any help? Together we dug, put salt for traction and voila, I was able to drive my car up the driveway.
I thanked this young man profusely, and he told me his name was Don, but wouldn’t tell me where he lived so I could send him some cookies. He got in his truck and said, “My wife saw you, then came home and told me to get out here and help you.” Then he drove off.
Did I see God? Yes, through one of his angels. I will always remember how quickly God answered my prayer. And God bless you, Don, whoever you are!
