Tonight I was rummaging through my son’s bookshelf looking for a book to read with him. I came across an old favorite that had been hidden behind some other books. It was The Tale of Three Trees by Angela Elwell Hunt. It is a retelling of a traditional folktale about three trees that grow up to be Jesus’ manger, boat and cross. It is a lovely story about how dreams for our future may not be fulfilled in the way that we imagined, but in better ways that we could never imagine. I always find myself choked up when I read it. It is a great story for both children and adults.
