Summer is a great time for sharing fun activities with friends—especially best girlfriends! That’s because a best friend is more than an ordinary friend. She’s the one who’ll work out and eat ice cream with you on the same day, cry with you at all the same places in the movie, show up with chocolate at just the right moment, and not be afraid to tell you when you have lettuce stuck in your teeth! Best of all, she’s the friend who’s available when you call and will ink you
into her address book and never erase you.
Have you ever thought about God being a friend like that? Yup, he laughs and cries with you and shows up at just the right moment with exactly what you need—the healthy bread of life! Best of all, you’re inked into his address book, too, and he wants to be inked into yours. So why not give him a call? Maybe you only dial the 9-1-1 God line when you’re in over your head or you think your schedule’s too busy to call him, but he’s always with you—whether you call him or not! You know how fun it is to have best friend time, so how about making some fun God-friend time this summer? God wants to spend time with you. He enjoys laughing with you, speaking to your heart, listening to your cares, and sharing in your life. You don’t have to pick up a phone or check your schedule; just acknowledge that wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, God’s already there!
Go to the beach with God, read a good book with God, take a vacation with God, spit watermelon seeds with God, sip a sweet tea with God, and ask him to help you experience all the happiness and joy he desires for you to have this summer. Because your best friend wants you to eat, drink, and enjoy life with him!
